First days in the USA

Oke for now i found some time to write a blog.
Everything went so fast. Before i knew i was allready in the plane. There where much people to say me goodbye and i felt a little nervous but looking forward as well.
When i was in the plane it all went quik, i could watch some movies and i had time to take a nap. That was nice because of the time difference in the usa. I could watch where the plane was and how long it would be for the arriving.
After a few hours it was time to land and it was a very bad weather over here.. Rain rain and rain so for the first impression it was not that imagination that i was having before ;).
In Holland a few friends where putting some stuff in my handluggage to take to the usa. So i was getting mini-stroopwafels and paaseieren... Aleksandra (mother of Isabel and Angela) was telling me to take not any food with me, that would be easyier for sure. So then i had to write down at the blue paper that i was bringing food from the Netherlands to the USA. When i came by the pasport controle i had luck with the man who was sitting behind. He just said that he finished his coffee and that he saw i was having something for him to finisch it completely ;). Oke that went easy...

30 minutes later i was allready in te arrivals hall. But no Pedro (father of the girls). I called him and they where expecting me much later, so he jumped into his car and 30 minutes later he was there to pick me up. In that time i was only looking what kind of people i saw and to realise that i was in the USA. So the time passed by very quik ;).

When we where driving 'home' we passed Manhattan as well but because of the bad weather it didn't gave me the Manhattan feeling ;).
The girls where sleeping when i arrived but once they woke up they where happy and nervous at the same time. Isabel was happy to see me but still sleepy and Angela looked at me like, what are you doing in here? 10 minutes later i've got the first little hug and attention.
The appartment is really lovely! Very modern, big and light. Enough space to play with the children and a beautiful big deck upstairs with a view at Manhattan!
That evening i was totally broke at 8.00 pm (2.00 am dutch time). I felt a sleep and the next morning i woke up at 6.45 am so that was not bad at all. I had the time to relax and look around me. where i just live by now.. Strange! And that didn't change for a long time because of the rainy days and the very modern appartement. I didn't had the feeling that i was in the USA. The biggest thing i was wondering about is the Multi-culti-talking in the house here. Aleksandra is coming from Macedonia and Pedro from Colombia. So they speak Macedonia and Spanish. But english is a part as well and for now Dutch will be a big language to.... But the girls are switching so easily! I'm still wondering about that. Now, 3 days later Isabel is really trying to talk Dutch and she is doing well, Angela is understing the most of the time but is talking trough Isabel in Macedonia. So i'm happy that Isabel is able to translate most of the things ;).

Today we went for a walk outside because since yesterday afternoon it's beautiful weather! We are living at the Hudson river so the view is beautifull. We went to the public library who is very near and it's lovely. We can go anytime we want and they have a big room specialy for young kids. Filled with plenty of books, puzzles, blocks and chairs. At thursdays they have in the morning 2 moments to visit a reading/music lesson for children between 1 and 3. And later around 3.00 pm for children between 3 and 5. And it's all free! So that will be a nice weekly event to go ;).
And a nice point is that the little park by the public library is having a view on Manhattan! Really nice!
It feels almost like home already, i was very curious how it would feel to be continue in a house by a other family.. But the family is taking care of me like a family member so that makes it a lot easyier!!

I guess the girls will be waking up in a soon time so for now i will stop writing.
Thanks for reading and i hope you can all enjoy the nice weather as well :).
(I put some pictures by this blog to show the children if they like ;))

Greets, Ashley
